Arsenal 2-1 Leeds: Guimaraes off bench inspires comeback as Calafiori equalises
Arsenal came from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates, with substitutes Bruno Guimaraes and Riccardo Calafiori turning the game after James Justin's opener.
Arsenal recovered from a goal down to defeat Leeds United 2-1 in their Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium. Leeds took the lead through James Justin, who finished a well-worked move, but Riccardo Calafiori equalised for the hosts. Bruno Guimaraes then came off the bench to score the winner, completing the turnaround.
Leeds had taken the lead after Gabriel Gudmundsson provided an excellent assist for Justin's opener. Arsenal struggled to create clear chances in the first half, but Calafiori levelled when he headed in from Ben White's cross. The equaliser came as a relief for the home side, who had been frustrated by Leeds' organised defence.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made a triple substitution on 63 minutes, introducing Guimaraes, Viktor Gyokeres and Jurrien Timber. The changes shifted the momentum, with Guimaraes scoring the decisive goal after a clever assist from Declan Rice. The Brazilian's impact was immediate, and he was rated Arsenal's best performer.
Leeds had chances to restore their lead, with Jayden Bogle forcing a save from David Raya and Noah Okafor going close. But Arsenal's substitutes helped them see out the win. Leeds manager Daniel Farke will take positives from a spirited display, though his side remain without a win at the Emirates.
Arsenal fans praised Guimaraes for changing the game, while Leeds supporters felt their team deserved more. The result keeps Arsenal in the title race, while Leeds continue to search for consistency. Both sets of players will now prepare for their next fixtures.
