England player ratings: Bellingham shines in 7-0 rout of Croatia
England produced a dominant 7-0 win over Croatia in Rijeka, with Jude Bellingham earning the highest rating from BBC Sport's player assessments.
England delivered a commanding 7-0 victory over Croatia in Rijeka on Tuesday, with Jude Bellingham earning the top rating of 9 from BBC Sport reporter Alex Howell. Bellingham was described as the best player on the pitch, providing a lovely pass for Harry Kane's opener, scoring England's second, and assisting Bukayo Saka for the fourth. His world-class quality troubled Croatia throughout.
Kane and Anthony Gordon also received ratings of 9. Kane, the captain, scored twice and was praised as an elite finisher who pressed from the front and showed his passing range. Gordon assisted Bellingham and scored for the fourth consecutive England game, playing with huge confidence. Saka scored twice and could have had a hat-trick, earning an 8, while Jarell Quansah and Elliot Anderson also received 8s for their performances.
The starting XI featured several notable selections. Jarell Quansah was surprisingly chosen at right-back over Trent Alexander-Arnold, while Alex Scott made his first England start. Lewis Hall, Ezri Konsa, and Marc Guehi each received a 7 for calm and assured displays. Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was rated 6, making a good early save but otherwise not heavily tested.
Substitutes Morgan Rogers, Eberechi Eze, James Garner, Morgan Gibbs-White, and Myles Lewis-Skelly all entered after the 70th minute and received ratings between 6 and 7, with Rogers scoring England's seventh. The win marked one of England's best performances in recent times, with the team pressing man-for-man and dominating Croatia from start to finish.
Fans were invited to rate the players themselves, though their scores were not included in the article. The ratings reflect England's overwhelming control and the individual quality that overwhelmed Croatia in Rijeka.
