Konsa and O'Reilly Doubts for England Against Czech Republic
Ezri Konsa and Nico O'Reilly missed England training on Monday and are uncertain for Tuesday's Nations League match against the Czech Republic.
Ezri Konsa and Nico O'Reilly are both doubts for England's Nations League match against the Czech Republic on Tuesday night after missing training on Monday morning. The pair were the only members of the squad to follow individual programmes, while the rest of the group trained as normal.
Both players featured for the full 90 minutes in England's 3-2 defeat to Spain at Wembley on Saturday. O'Reilly, who started at left-back, made a mistake that allowed Alex Baena to equalise at 2-2 before Spain went on to win. The Manchester City defender had established himself in that position during the World Cup.
If O'Reilly is unavailable, Lewis Hall could step in at left-back. In central defence, Jarrad Branthwaite, who replaced Marc Guehi late against Spain, is a contender to start should Konsa miss out. Konsa, an Arsenal centre-back, has become one of head coach Thomas Tuchel's most trusted players and started seven of England's eight matches at the World Cup.
The Czech Republic fixture is the first of four games in this international window for England. After facing the Czechs at home, they travel to Rijeka to play Croatia before taking on the Czech Republic again away. The loss to Spain has increased the importance of getting positive results in the coming matches.
