Martin O'Neill has declared he is the right man to lead Celtic forward after using the international break to reflect on his future. The 74-year-old had hinted at retirement following a difficult run, but now insists he is fully committed.

O'Neill signed a one-year deal at Parkhead after two interim spells last season, during which he guided the club to a league and Scottish Cup double. That success cemented his legendary status among supporters, but recent results raised doubts.

Last month, Celtic suffered two defeats to Rangers, separated by a 3-1 home loss to Ferencvaros in the Europa League. After that sequence, O'Neill said it "might be time to wrap it up" regarding his managerial career.

However, the club rallied behind him, with chief executive Michael Nicholson publicly expressing support. Two weeks on, O'Neill has now stated he has the drive to continue, saying he is "extremely prepared" for the challenge.

In a club interview, O'Neill described the poor run as a difficult week that can happen, adding that it was not the end of the world. He said he wants to lead the club, try to win the league, and is just as determined as ever.

Supporters have largely welcomed his decision, with many taking to social media to voice their backing for the Northern Irishman. While some fans remain concerned about recent performances, the mood among the Celtic faithful appears to have lifted after O'Neill's reaffirmation.
